The Tour of Wessex

Up next – The Tour of Wessex

One of the largest multi-stage cyclosportives in the world, the Tour of Wessex combines some of the best of the English countryside with some of it’s most challenging terrain over 3 days of back-to-back riding. Based in Somerton, we’ll be covering classic climbs such as Cheddar Gorge, King Alfred’s tower, Lulworth Ranges, Quantock Common and Porlock Toll Road (if you’re not going up a hill on this event, then you’re coming down one!)

The Standard Distance each day is 107-116miles and as I’m staying locally with John Mews my Deputy Crew Chief, I’ve the option to add on an extra 26 miles a day cycling to and from the finish! My folks will be down providing some much-needed support. All-in-all, it should be great training for Ireland and the chance to see some quintessentially English countryside (and hopefully sampling some local produce!)
